Energy Facts

Welcome to the Sierra Energy Products Resource Center

As the Watt-Minder functions as an educational tool, we felt is was important to include additional information and references on the workings of electrical energy as well as other resources to gain ideas into how to be more energy efficient.

Much of the information is for school age children (ages 8-18). In this area, you will find “electricity for kids” as well as “educational aids”. Both of these sections function as resources for both parents and teachers to help educate today’s youth, (who will be tomorrow’s energy users) on how to best save and conserve energy.

For older children (ages 19 to 100) we have included a vast array of energy conservation websites and State Energy Conservation Offices which can provide localized information on energy savings plans and ideas practiced in their local community.

And for all we have included a short glossary to further help decipher some of the key terms and concepts used in the electrical energy business, from production and consumption to conservation.

We hope you will find this helpful and welcome your thoughts and comments.

Energy Tips

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, about 15% of household electricity goes towards consumer electronics. This amount is predicted to double by 2015 as a result of our ever increasing love with home gadgets. Using the Watt-Minder, you can identify those hidden costs and cut your power bill by as much as $150.
